23rd September is celebrated as International Day of Sign Languages. The objective of celebrating this day is to create awareness about Deaf Community, use of Sign Language and the need to create accessible environments for deaf people globally.
Society for Education of the Differently Abled-SEDA conducted an Awareness program with Aravali Hospital at the AIPS campus on 24th September 2022.
Lead by SEDA CEO Ms Atiya Hajee, deaf teachers from SEDA Mr Aqil Hajee, NDS trainer Mr Satish Prajapat conducted the training.
The trainees of Aravali Hospital and Aravali Institute of Paramedical Sciences (AIPS) were introduced to the world of deafness . The session included role play, discussion and learning basic signs in Indian Sign Language. The trainees were taught basic signs related to illness which can help initiate basic communication between a deaf patient and a doctor till a professional interpreter is made available.
The session was interactive and the students participation was good.
